ACEE or Augusta Community Education Emphasis

ACEE or Augusta Community Education Emphasis,

istock_000005055345mediumIt's a new program meant to bring hope to young men in Augusta, GA.

* ACEE held its first meeting on January 31, 2009. A meeting that comes just in time as a national study finds Richmond County ranks the sixth lowest in the United States for it's graduation rates of black males.Less than one in three black males graduate from high school in Richmond County.

* ACEE is sponsored by Antioch Baptist Church, the Zeta Xi Omega Chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority and Good Shepherd Baptist Church.

* Plus guidance, from community leaders like Tax Commissioner Stephen Kendrick and Juvenile Court Judge Willie Saunders.

* ACEE holds monthly meetings to provide love and support. The goal is give love where love is desperately needed. Mentoring, tutoring, and devotion to the program will aid in helping our children finish high school.

* The group hopes with community and parent involvement they can develop a community wide mentoring program for young men starting in middle school.

* "We've got to put emphasis back on education." says Rev. Martin. And with a strong start behind them, ACEE hopes they can now look forward to many bright futures ahead.
